William Clayton Brumby wanted to make a man out of his 14 year old son, but tragically killed him instead at a gun range in Sarasota, FL.
I often wonder how people can look at the tragedy of Sandy Hook and not change their minds about gun control. It has never made sense to me, but this story about a man shooting his own son and then pledging to keep guns around the house for defense says a lot about the mindset of these people. He still has 6 other children.
Brumby had taken his son to a shooting range to teach him “How to be a man”, but one freak accident later, his son was dead.
“It's just a great loss but thankfully we'll see him someday. I have a feeling he's on a great lake out there.”
Brumby wants to make us all aware that it was not the gun’s fault.
“The gun didn't kill my boy. I did,” Brumby, 64, said.
Brumby did what anyone would do in this situation by starting a GoFundMe page;
Stephen Brumby "was passionate about his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and dedicated his life to sharing his hope with everyone he met," the page says.
They’ve already raised $20,000+.
As for Brumby's views on guns now — he said they haven't changed. He still plans to keep them around the house for self-defense.
These people are so in love with their guns that shooting their own children doesn’t even give them pause. Small wonder they are not moved by tragedies like Sandy Hook.
Police are still investigating the incident, but said the death was accidental and have filed no charges against Brumby.
It appears that Mr. Brumby will be allowed to keep his precious firearms and the family sees a light at the end of this very long, dark tunnel.
"The families’ only comfort is knowing that He is communing with the heroes of his faith and rejoicing in paradise."
