If you haven’t already deleted your Yahoo mail account after Yahoo lost half a BILLION passwords, you really should.
It has now come to light that Yahoo wrote a program, at the behest of the US government, to scan all incoming emails regardless of their origin, and forward that information to the NSA and FBI.
The request by the government and the immediate compliance by Yahoo led to the resignation of Yahoo’s head of security, Alex Stamos.
This seems to be the first known case of an American Internet company acting on behalf of the government to search messages in near real time—previous operations captured stored data or intercepted only a handful of target accounts.
After having the largest password breach in history, Yahoo demonstrates their technical expertise by looking through every email coming into their system.
What about the argument that everyone does this?
"We've never received such a request, but if we did, our response would be simple: 'No way'," a spokesman for Google said in a statement.
That would be the correct, constitutional response.
Let me be clear here. Yahoo searched all accounts with no probable cause, even those of American citizens.
Fair warning. Delete your fucking Yahoo account immediately.
